You’ve struggled against and with societal and even religious cultural pressure, constantly overcoming to do the hardest thing of all: accept your children and support them on the path they’ve found. That is the profound lesson for Father’s Day and the hardest challenge as a parent to take. You’ve ended up modeling the real struggle parents go through and resisting the temptation of the judgement of others on you and your children of not being “successful.” Real success as a parent overcoming what you think you want your children to be and supporting them in who they are first, listening to who they want to become, but still offering questions and ideas that can guide them.
