You can’t look at the time period from 1865-1965 and not see racism. Though everywhere, the ferociousness of white murder and lynching is unmatched and unpunished. Whites gathered around by the hundreds to watch a burning at the stake or hanging of a black man or men. Politicians sanctioned it. No constitutional due process was given to any black American man or woman who was murdered, making all of them innocent under the U.S. Constitution. Routine murder of innocent black American citizens for one hundred years. Those are facts, not opinions. That’s hardcore genocide, not American democracy. The laws that were structured and practiced down there were anti-black American, anti-constitution. You can’t emerge out of that suddenly and declare, “we’re not racist.” And we didn’t. The last lynching was in 1981, not in the 1600s in Salem witch trial. The witches get more movies and press and films made about them being burned alive than the black Americans burned alive in the 1930s or 1890s. Yet no one calls, these with trials. They weren’t of course, they were a type of town square burning even Salem and Hitler didn’t have.
