You Canadians are dreaming if you think you have any one nearly as close to pushing your country to the brink as Trump. Right of Center is Canada means polite and civilized, which would make you somewhere on the American left. I grew up on the border and went there many weekends growing up just so my mom could get gas in Niagara Falls on the other side. I was there for a short vacation last month, and right in front of my eyes was a “racist incident” where a Muslim man push a black American woman with her family in the cafe. On the other side was Niagara Falls gushing away. The police went back and forth, from one side to the other, about five of them, talking with each other, going to the woman then, talking with each other, going back to the man. Finally they asked the man to apologize and he did. I couldn’t understand what was happening until days later. They were quietly de-escalating the situation, closing it down, being reasonable. No way would that type of policing happen in Texas. Both “sides” would have been told to shut up and either the black woman, the Muslim, or both would have been in handcuffs. Canadian police are trained not to escalate, and not only that but trained to de-escalate. I’m not saying Canadians don’t have their share of problems, but their racism and xenophobia appears almost trite in comparison. We have thousands of self-styled militias training right now in the woods across the country to take down the government on Election Day or after.
Just a note to my fellow Americans when that day arrives: take the whirlpool bridge across to Canada not the Rainbow bridge. LOL I pray.
