You can always vote for Mr. West. At least it’s voicing yourself. I’m not sure, but I could do a write it too. People tend to forget that in 1960, Richard Nixon was the liberal, not the conservative, and South Carolina had been hardened into a one party Democrat white conservative state that would even allow Nixon on the ticket. But many white supremacists felt Kennedy was going to betray them and their party by passing the third civil rights law. Without a Republican to vote for on the ticket (Nixon was not one the ticket in South Carolina), they wrote in Strum Thurmond for President. He was the VP running mate for Byrd—a Democrat, who got half the electors of the write vote in Mississippi where JFK got half the electors. Black Americans did not vote in those states. White supremacists in these states and other white supremacist states in the South voted for JFK and sent him to the White House. Today, JFK is viewed as a liberal hero, though he was put in power by white supremacists. How quickly whites forget and are easily deceived. The Democrats did not become “liberal” until the Southerns quit in mid-1964 after LBJ signed the civil rights bill. Kennedy may have advocated for that bill and civil rights for black Americans, and said some liberal things, but he was a chameleon with deep white supremacists roots born in a family where his father was deeply filled with spite and white racial hatred and encouraged his male children to sleep around. You can put a liberal face on this white supremacist but that won’t change him underneath. Don’t be fooled. Kennedy was a friend of the rich and powerful. Period.
Thanks again!!
