You are sadly very correct. The cotton is consolidated and sold off to the market. There is one major buyer, Cargill, the biggest privately owned ag company in America. Cargill along with Neslte won a case before the supreme court, I believe in 2022, where they had been sued for buy cocao beans in Ghana/Ivorie Coast area using child slave labor smuggled/trafficked over the border from Mali.
