Yes, you’re exactly right. Males who were abused are often distrustful, depressed, etc. They often don’t grow into abusers, though some do. But the fictive idea of the few is the dominant idea: that something bad has to happen to you for you to become bad. That is often not the case. Nothing bad can happened and often does. People born with a predisposition toward low empathy and get no love, hugs and tenderness fro their family, and are rich and spoiled are ones most likely to be cruel victimizers, narcissists, “unfeeling” monsters. They are easily socialized by the dominant narrative and can’t curb their or control their harmful impulses, most likely due to this genetic inheritance of low prefrontal cortex attachment to the emotional center of the brain. (If this description reminds you a certain president taking to Twitter to insult someone, than that’s fine as he serves as an example. He did punch his teacher in the face in fifth grade and got suspended). The media has it backwards. Probably because they don’t know, think about it, and mostly want a good storyline.
