Yes, the economy picked up some as Russia acquired some assets like Starbucks and McDs. They also took over the oil and gas industry and US giants and oil and gas service companies were forced out of this lucrative market, turning over valuable assets and equipment to Russian oil companies. Russia then shifted shipping oil to India via the North sea route, giving it valuable income and India cheaper oil—they have the world’s biggest oil refinery just north of Mumbai. Russia also signed a massive 40 year gas supply contract to China via pipeline, diverting all that gas going to Europe to China. It took like 20 years to negotiate. So Russia won vast new business for it’s energy, China got gas to burn instead of coal, and America got the rich EU companies to buy its gags via LNG tanker shipments—which have increased to China as well. And Russia and China made huge deals in Bolivia to buy minerals valued in the billions. Everybody won. Except of course, as always, the soldiers. With hundreds of thousands dead on each side, the war and the grief of the poor on both sides have stacked up, while Ukraine has lost cities and cities and towns. So sad.
