Yes, that’s a very good analysis there. I happen to be a person, culturally, white, and mostly genetically white. I’ve learned that my grandfather was part black, a mullatto, who escaped south, and moved north to marry a white Irish woman. That does not change that I identify as white culturally, but it does change my personal view of the world. Know that I have several black ancestors brought to Louisiana in chains makes me reflect more on my identity. Who would I have been had my grandfather not been forced to pass?
