Yep, Vivek, aka “Vivien,” really blew it with that post. His preaching diatribe showed the chasm between his elitism and the MAGA movement, revealing he has no ability to be in touch with them and doesn’t understand them at all. His parents are H1-B-ers and he is their nepo-baby. He was flaunting his liberal elite superiority to working class white Americans, who are resentful of him and his class. He demonstrated doesn’t get MAGA all by attacking “prom queens” and “jocks,” and saying those students should study math and stop goofing off. He doesn’t realize that the many shows aimed at the whiteness or the bro culture on TV like Friday Night Lights, Jack Reacher, and for white women the entire Hallmark channel. Those values are not endless work around the clock crunching math for IBM values, but the other 99 percent. Instead of pretending to be “a blue collar billionaire” he just wants to be a stuck-up billionaire.
He hurt himself bad, showing how distant he is from the MAGA base, not only highlighting his meritocracy success stemming from his parents, but emphasizing how “dark-skinned” browns are invading America and stealing jobs from Americans. The GOP Party only “let him” in and run like they did Ben Carson or Herman Cain to draw in conservative people of color, of which there are a lot. He didn’t understand like Carson, Niki “the Sikh” Haley, or Tim Scott, that humility in the face of the white base is not an option for non-whites but a feature of the marginal acceptance their kind gets. Power comes at a cost for non-whites in the conservative party and he will probably pay it. Let’s hope so, he’s annoying and arrogant AF.
