The Model of “Founding Father” Admiration Continues

Powerful and rich will make you smart. It’s amazing how a basketball coach is called a “thought leader.” Or a CEO who led the stock value up but had some serious problems. Making yourself rich and bullying your way up apparently makes you a thought leader in the white world.

This ad from the NYTimes that just flashed on my screen must have appeared because I just wrote an article about the fake worship of Great White Men in American ideology, and how that worship replaced the ‘worship’ of ideals of American.

Powerful structural ideas, once mythologized, can override rational thought and lead to societies clinging around crass and dangerous ideas of greatness emanating from white leaders instead from ideals.

It just could be the biggest Bait-and-Switch in history. This fundamental idea, that white men are wise because they have become rich and powerful, is prevalent and dominant in modern American thought. It’s mere presentation, like the above picture, evokes automatic admiration. Content almost seems secondary to the success of authority.
