VP Kamala Harris had a thoughtfully unclear time answering an easy question on how to help the lower class. She botched it with wasn’t a lie but felt a bit like deflection. She is fortunate to have an opponent who lies so much we just can’t see her as one. She has a far stabilized base of emotional reason, to be sure. But still, it should be a homerun for someone with the intelligence and drive she has, which, full disclosure, is way higher than mine.

Here’s the problem: maybe she really doesn’t know the answer. I didn’t, you probably don’t. No seriously, I don’t mean to insult you, but let me know in the comments what you think and if you knew. Here it is, my simple plan for helping preschoolers of single moms or dads.

America has about 800 military bases in about 153 countries, as seen in recent books and discussions. Shut them down. Seriously, what the hell is wrong with those countries that can’t defend themselves? Or can’t occupy themselves? I can’t imagine a better way for the world to liberate itself and set itself free and for Americans to discover that they actually tens of billions of dollars to fund all kinds of things than to stop our government from charging taxpayers not to Occupy Wall Street but to Occupy the World.

Or at least three quarters of it. Staggering, no? Fortunately, the world doesn’t mind American occupying them with military bases, but without having to call it “colonialism.” Really, we were very fortunate to have Britain and some of its European allies come first, conditioning the people of the world to feel “colonized” and not “occupied.” The British, French, and others invaded and occupied countries like Africa (a whole continent of countries) and India (a whole continent of countries).

Of course, the groundwork of language that shapes our thinking was born centuries earlier when that same set of people from West Europe invaded like all of the “New World.” It was a brilliant label, as it was only new to them. To the inhabitants that had cities and cotton farms (like in Arizona) a thousand to four thousand years before the arrival of the “conquistadors”, it was simply home.

And yes those numbers are right, thousand or more years. A recent “find” in Peru of city from 3,000 BC…
