When I saw the Muslim Brotherhood win the election in Egypt, I thought, good, whatever my opinion, it is the opinion of the voters that matter. The competence of the elected president was of little consequence, as a functioning democracy takes time to build. But instead of supporting it, out wonderful US government could not help but fund weapons to the Sisi to overthrow the democracy. I was not surprised, and knew they did not support an independent democracy from established. Control of the Suez Canal, the gas fields, and the military shipments were more important, and it was relatively easy to bribe officials used to being on the take. Truly sad.
