When has the policy or law every bothered the white male conservatives in the Deep South? Mississippi under white control allowed 1 percent of black Americans to register to vote in 1960 and almost none voted until the 1968 election. They clearly violated the constitution. They lynched black Americans despite the law,Morten with the law present, and only held the first real lynching trial in Alabama in 1981 when Michael Donald was hung. He was some “random” young black man, hard working upwardly mobile in college with bright future ahead of him, this group of white men pulled off the street, beat, slit his throat, and hung. Why? Because they were angry at the outcome of trial of an unrelated black man. 1981 was the first real trial with real results. Some weren’t real trials with real results (unlike Emmitt Till’s trial for example). There were almost no trial’s for the murderous lynchers in the 7 decades before that one.
So now you expect what? That suddenly white men in the Deep South, who didn’t even care about “thou shall not kill biblical law and criminal law or the constitutional rights of black Americans to vote before 1968 are suddenly supposed to grow a conscience and become morally profound human beings who see the error of there ways? A group of conservatives loudly and brazenly violating the rights of black Americans for the first 200 years of American (Northern liberal) democracy and not enforcing its foundational principles are supposed to start caring about a bunch of “brown” Venezuelans? Why do you think he sent them to the elite liberal bastion island in Massachusetts? To flip them the bird openly and to show them who has power and reveal that the liberals are a bunch of “softies” who coddle “illegals” with kindness instead of being tough and enforcing the law. He got exactly the result he wanted, reflected in this viral text.
Look, I think he is scum who disregards the basic human inalienable rights of these people, in flagrant disregard for the UN protects asylum seekers deserve and I applaud the response of people in Martha’s Vineyard. But still, I have to acknowledge that he scored a political victory with “his” people who are tough on illegals and hate flowery tree hugging elites. He’ll be remembered by his people for this “stunt” come primary season 2023.
