You have to be careful is you are an institutional leader in front of Republicans on the committee for Education because they are dangerous and taken out the leaders of Ivy League Schools. Being careful not to enrage them or to enrage your own administration is how students are getting eviscerated, and the nation gutted, how weapons flow freely into Israel stockpiles in the middle of genocide, and how out country is run into the ground.

Here’s their latest stunt (which is actually a legitimate of governance since they control the House in Congress): “Leaders of Northwestern, U.C.L.A. and Rutgers, drawing lessons from prior hearings, sought to avoid enraging either the Republicans on the committee or members of their own institutions.” Think about being called in front of this Republican controlled House committee who one goal is silence any dissent and being scared as a highly trained and experienced intellectual, leader, and administrator of a major educational institution and afraid to speak the truth. Imagine having to worry at every second, not about how to get better funding and discuss how to improve education, but at “enraging” conservative MAGA committee members questioning you.
