Black Bravery in the Face of Relentless MAGA Doom
What is it about very intelligent minority people that they can’t learn from the very recent past? They put themselves out there, running into a burning house to save a teddy bear. Cute, your daughter loves her stuffy, but by the time you retrieve it will burst into a fireball and the roof will collapse. That’s how I see the recent pattern and that’s the warming Mr. Banks should take. But he won’t.
Mr. Banks as the head of New York Public schools, the chancellor, is getting ready to step into the fire pit of Congress to testify about antisemitism in NYC schools. For the previous minorities we’ve seen recently to do what he is preparing to do, the ending was not happy. Trump-MAGA conservative Elise Stefanik and her crew grilled minority women as a white woman in top leadership roles and the most prestigious universities and lost.
It looks like his message is vague and over-worn at this point. The reporting says he “is expected to deliver a message that both antisemitism and all other forms of hate have no place in public schools.” There is no room for hate in our fill-in-the-blank. Such a trite announcement in the midst of a genocide doesn’t point to the problem acutely.
