This is quite important to remember. What actually happened over time is that Neanderthals were essentially “absorbed” into the homo shape in species, no called the human race. The biological markers of a species are defined not by skin color but by “breeding.” Previously it wasn’t thought the humans could breed with Neanderthals, so the assumption was Neanderthals disappeared or went extinct. But with humans we know this is not the case: any person can breed with any other one despite skin color difference. The scientific definition of human would include “blacks,” “browns,” “yellows,” and “whites.” To believe in different “races” based on skin color is similar, from a perspective of science, to believing in the flat earth. (Yes, I am saying all white supremacists are Flat Earthers, which shouldn’t surprise anyone since they believe the earth was created 6,242 years ago).
