They are not erasing *their* history. White triumphalism is what they have always strived for as being the dominant narrative. So eliminating Rosa Parks’s narrative and minimizing that story makes perfect sense from *their* perspective as it did erecting those statues in the early 1900s. From your perspective and mine perhaps, it makes no sense. But we are not the white dominant class in many of these Southern states who have always defied “northern aggression” and “federal” law.
