…and when they don’t like you, too bad.

My homemade chart on foundational differences in goverance.
My homemade chart on foundational differences in governance [author diagram]

How do you tell a democracy from an autocracy? Consider this like the riddle of sphinx. Because the sphinx lives in the Middle East. Under my definition, from a base level, there are two types of governing ordering structures in the modern world (the last four hundred years say), democracy and autocracy. And now we can measure which side America falls on when we have a basic chart (all other countries are not “better” or saint-like, but they are not such empires, and I don’t live there).

Today Syria falls, Mr. Bashar flees to Russia, and the question apparently that arose is this: Who gets to determine what type of government should come next? The answer should be blindingly simple to American politicians. It isn’t.

I made this chart and basic system (what is a base theoretical construct) because I haven’t yet seen a simple and elegant way to measure democracy and because it’s my freedom of expression and I can do this. You don’t have to like it and can build your own. But oppositional structures of belief in how to set up or operate a government can be seen best in the American Revolution, the third time the authority of the British Monarch was overthrown by a group of rebels who then voted on a new form of governance by voting.
