The irony was lost on me, but it isn’t now. I’m not surprised. Last year, 51 countries provided $697 billion in tax break to energy corporations. Leading the pack in most countries was ExxonMobil, BP, Chevron, Shell. I hadn’t paid attention to the backlash behind the student loan debt forgiveness. It occurred to me when reading this excellent piece how all that money could have been give for reparations. Instead, I’m sure many, many whites will receive “forgiveness” for these debts. Hence it has a good chance of passing.
