What do you imagine is going on in this news pic?

He did it. This time it finally happened. The black American kid out to party on the weekend got the cop. This teen came right at the cop. And saved him.

It’s not often you get to see the opposite of what it looks like on the news. Especially in Mississippi. Especially in water. But here you go. This brave black American teenage jumped in save d three girls from drowning the river and saved the white cop from drowning. That’s a hell of a lot of work and even more hero-ing.

Usually, a screen grab in the past would have meant the cop was appearing in court with his lawyer about some accusation or on some allegations against this kid. I can’t even remember the last time I heard a good news story from Mississippi, or anywhere else, where the hero is the black teen.

Which makes me think: is this the only story like this? I can’t believe that is the case. With so much news about cops shooting black Americans for little to no provocation, with vastly disproportional force, why can’t we see the opposite type of “force” from black Americans, a force for good.

Good actions and good acts happen all the time. But I know I don’t get enough stories like this. So, what do you think? Could constantly posting these acts be a way to run a counter-narrative, a humanizing narrative? Could building some story, some viral clip site in social media of small or large helpful acts build such a positive image of young black men in particular to “soften” their image in the eyes of cops and the injustice system?
