It’s no joke. This is a true history narrative that can’t be told. Trump has nothing on this one. Not yet at least. I have only seen previews of the movie The Purge but I’m aware of the premise. You suspend the law to kill, for just one day. Maybe that’s what Trump meant by Day One.
Once you hear the real-life Purge, especially if you’re a black American non-MAGA voter, you might think twice about the movie. I won’t be able to watch it anymore. This real Purge takes place in order to win the election. There was no punishment for the murder because the governor suspended the law. Hence, I give you the actual one: The Great Purge.
Here’s the real reporting from the Great Purge to give you a preview:
“Adams went with them to the courthouse which he had fairly entered when his throat was cut from ear to ear and his body was hauled out that night and thrown in a bayou. …There was no punishment for the murder, since Governor McEnery had suspended the law until after the election.” [emphasis mine, since suspending the law is what makes a purge a purge.
