The Culture War on Democracy
Wait, the War is on Culture?
Democracy. It’s not a war on culture. It’s a way against democracy. Culture is optional; human civil rights are not. Liberty is not. Democrats, black Americans, LBGTQI+, drag queens, white and brown chess players, environmentalists who like clean air and water — none of them wake up looking to go to War. Only Republicans do.
Only conservatives wake up ready to strip away the rights of Trans children and the right for a woman to have an abortion. Especially after rape and incest. Only they are fighting against black history being taught. Only they want one version of American history to be taught, and it all involves battles and wars. They are fighting against recognizing trans and intersex. They are fighting against welfare and day care.
They are fighting against Medicare and medical insurance expansion. They are fighting against universal healthcare. They are fighting against recognizing reparations and affirmative action. They are fighting against fair voting and expansion of more voting drop off points in black and Latino neighborhoods. Against, against, against. The only thing they are fighting for is T to expand gun ownership and fighting against military style AR-15 weapons used in mass public shooting.
