The Continued 225 Year Supermajority of Jim Crow Whites
Friday Night Ranting: Please Primary Biden for his Autocratic Silence
“We have over 200 years of white rule in Tennessee.” This was said by one of the white men who got Justin Pearson expelled from the job as representative who the voters put there and only the voters have a right to expel in an election.
What these white legislatures were saying were things that sound like:
“White male culture is rich in our state, and we have a fabulous, long track record of repressiveness of uppity negroes. The decorum us white men have made, and the way we have kept it intact to keep so many promising young black men out of politics in our state is not, is not, now going to be spoiled by these young black men.
We’ve let some older blacks participate and let them stay on without expulsion because they remained quiet, toothless, respectful of our decorum. And we are going to keep it that way.”
That’s the message, the undercurrent, I picked up at least. But no message at all can be worse.
Silence is despicable sometimes. Worse than words in the case of defending democracy. When you can’t stand up for it, you shouldn’t be president. And when in this day age, Biden reacts not at all to black American members of his party being insurrected or…
