The campaign was brilliant by Mars because they knew at that point of all the free press they would get from Tucker again. It is again great to see the vastly irrational ranting of the angry white supremacist male he embodies. For 100 years white supremacists like him would get absolutely violent and lynch black Americans at the slightest accusation, disposing of due process rights in constitution of the slightest allegation of provocation. I take Tucker’s disproportional anger to his manufactured controversy as the core takeaway. Just yesterday I was reading about the massacre of black Americans started by an accusation against a black man in Memphis that led to white men raiding the black American section of town, going through and slaughtering innocent black Americans in their homes and on the streets. Ida B. Wells had one of her activist friends die and began a legendary investigation that led to her booklet “Southern Horrors” being published in 1894 and inspired the first anti-lynching law introduced to Congress by the last black American Congressmen in 1900 before he left the House in 1901 as he saw another insurrection in 1898 of whites who rode in to slaughter blacks and whites elected to office who were working together in Wilmington.
That disproportional anger is the red flag that is ignored in the controversy. By the early 1930s towns of several thousands across the South would gather around to watch a “good” lynching and body burning of an innocent black man like Lloyd Warner where 7,000 whites gathered in 1933 to watch him literally burn while cops directed traffic while whites socialized, laughed and enjoyed themselves. And what end this horrendous practice that only become more grew in size of crowds after Ida Wells national reporting on this atrocity? Nothing. There was no “unconditioning” of those mobs and only in 2022 was that anti-lynching law introduced 122 earlier. There has been no reversal for a public, anti-constitutional practice in the South and Missouri in particular. They have still had uncontrolled supremacist marches and bigoted comments since then with no federal condemnation or federal apology for lack of intervening for not stopping the anti-constitutional lynching ever—a job the federal government did not do and buried many investigations into the white lynchers, like the 1947 one of 4 in Georgia (of five since the black woman was pregnant).
While the white man like Tucker can still muster up extreme outrage at a women dressed as candy, like their outrage over CRT, Wokism, the super predator, crack babies, the welfare Queen of Reagan in the 70s and Birther scandal under Trump starting more than a decade ago. On the other side, there is laughing at the anger, but not anger real proportional outrage at the previous century of lynching, a practice that only saw the first real trial in 1981 after the lynching of Michael Donald. Where has that much needed proportional outrage been? Where is the proportional outrage at the attack on women via female M&Ms or anti-black campaign of CRT? Until we see real visible anger at the endless unjustified attacks by Tucker and Marjorie Greene types, instead of joking and laughing and calling him and her and their kind fools, we will continue to get the same results: violent tirades leading to real violence.
Are women M&Ms something to laugh at? Maybe. But is the anger displayed over it by the like of Tucker and DeSantis? Not at all. It’s scary.
