This is just a follow-up to remark on the historical structured pattern behind the Tyre’s murder as nothing really shocking. I had a chance to hear reverend Al Sharpton speak, and quite frankly was blown away and inspired. As an aside, he noted the historic march on Washington in celebration of the 60-year march of Martin King Jr on August 26, 2023. I thought of packing my bags.

In regard to Tyre Nichols, a peace-loving skateboarder, gifted photographer, and activist against police violence who just had a beautiful baby, I had discussed in two previous stories the influence of the system of violence, trying to link it to an underlying system. Then I ran across this photo, the one above. If you like understanding how long-term events can structure actions and expectations that are hard to overturn, then this picture is for you. Can you spot the threat?

This is a scene from The Colfax Massacre. It was the result of killing of black Americans in after the Civil War in 1873. Like the Declaration of Independence or Constitution set expectations for equality and inalienable rights, this event and ones like it set the system and structured the actions and reaction for white supremacists for the next one hundred years.
