The Allegations of Israeli Teen Defilement a Lie
Depravity’s Ladder and the Bottom Rung
Allegations have always been a key factor in starting wars, arresting ‘suspects,’ and persecuting opposition members in an election season. Allegations are routine. Proof is scarce. October 7th may be no different.
An elite Israeli special forces soldier reported two Israeli girls found dead and brutally raped. It became highly inflammatory — the description and allegation. It outraged the Israeli — and American white right-wing media mob. They worked themselves into a frenzy, and when details are so graphically described, they paint a mental picture the mind prefers not to examine any closer and retracts from — in belief, not disbelief. Further scrutiny is not needed for hatred to spread by word of mouth, and chatroom, tweet, and comment boards.
The latest reporting from the NYTimes shows that “Many community members had come to believe that the teenage sisters were victims of sexual violence because of other accounts, including from emergency response volunteers who spoke about this incident publicly.” Speaking publicly is not proof and “had come to believe” is not “evidence”: “The military paramedic was not the only person who had described evidence of sexual assault in Be’eri.”
