We Love the Numbers, Don’t We?
I sometimes think it is a group effort to figure things out. Writers give me big clues, tell their personal stories, tell me understandings, and then something clicks in my brain to reveal a sudden insight. That doesn’t mean “I’m right.” It just means I’m factoring in others info and historical records to “calculate” a new conclusion that for you can be disposable. But I think we still need more to understand why more than 74 million voters will turn out to vote for him in November.
That is more people will vote for him than last time. The media keeps saying he’s a liar; the people keep turning out to vote in droves for him. None of them are running away from the fact-checking machine gun and by now we not in the media or on the right should understand that it fires blanks. Humans are more concerned with “their story” and “their story of belonging” than to “facts.” That is the deep emotional truth we have to live with each day, not some stupid fact that disappears overnight and we can laugh at Trump getting wrong and then dispose of.
Deep emotional turbulence historically is what changes politics. To get people to peel away from their stated positions they anchor themselves into each day, some “great” historical event needs to shake everything up, like war or maybe jail time for…
