“That” was Long Ago
White Amnesia Loser Disease (WALD)
Whites say:
“I didn’t personally commit racism. That away a long time ago.” “Why should I pay reparations?” “Why should I be forced to make amends I didn’t do it?”
But then they take responsibility for World War Two: is this the same country that fought World War Two? I saw one comment make this comment to reflect the attitude whites in particular have about “The Greatest Generation”: That is was strong; it was moral; it was victorious and dominant. Everyone likes a winner. America prospered like no other country ever because of the opportunity the victory of the war gave America. It exported everywhere in the world to rebuild it, set up massive factories to make cars and refrigerators for the world in the next decades, giving untold profit to corporations that paid massive wages to average white workers without any real skills except returning from the war alive.
Now, only now, do they want back those high wages back that the post-World War Two economic American system gave workers. It was a system they didn’t create. Why does Trump promise them those jobs back? Suddenly, they see the system, they see the forest for the trees, and want to get back to that system they weren’t responsible for creating.
