That is such a good point. It is like, “My great grandfather came over to America, got 120 acres of land for almost nothing thanks to the white Homestead Act, a super giveaway to white immigrant non-citizens and citizens alike so they could have a chance and occupy stolen Indian lands.” At the same time the Black Homestead Act, the forty acres and a mule administered by the Freeman’s Bureau was shut down after a couple years and some of the land given to free blacks was taken back. The Homestead Act, a type of reparations, ended though long long ago, in 1976, while the Alaska Homestead Act ended in 1986. Then the HR 40 act was introduced in 1989 for black Americans and the good news is once it passes black Americans will finally get 40 acres. Talk about injustice.
