That is because in part I felt after reading this that facts are subordinate to a system of beliefs where power is sought and justified in a group setting. Of course, there are multiple answers or ideas connected to your comment, yet beliefs are powerful, and we sometimes forget that white supremacy is a belief system, like religion. Though some like us see such a belief system as immoral or ‘evil’, the believers of it see it as their central faith, and like God cannot be destroyed by ‘facts’. This supremacist system lies concurrent with Christianity, like other extremists group, as Al Queda lies in conjunction with Islam. It’s practitioners have mixed in these two systems, making them difficult to disentangle for them, though the majority of believers of these religions can’t understand these people and their propensity for violence. The seeking of power is not easy to give up though. It takes active work like this discussion to continually disentangle these false beliefs where ‘solid facts’ can be subordinate to their beliefs.
Thanks much.
