It could that the white woman asked your opinion as a way to “reach across the aisle” is a public space, to listen to and hear the opinion of some one who has a lived experience of being black. I know if I was seeing such an exhibit, I would curious to know what a black man or woman thought, but would be too shy to ask and perhaps afraid to offend for asking.
