Thanks for sharing all those facts you gathered in your journey. And thanks for staying. Over 180,000 black soldiers fought in the Civil War—10 percent of fighting forces— for freedom, and 40,000 are said to have died in battle and from infection and illness. If you can imagine they all possessed the dignity of Denzel or believed in the power of freedom they fought for, then for sure you would stay, but I’ll bet you won’t be standing alone.
