Strange I was just reading about Lemuel Haynes, a man with a black father and a white mother, of great intellect who received an honorary degree. He fought in some key battles in the American Revolution, like the battle of Lexington in 1774 and with the Minute men. It must have been hard for his parents, or maybe not since he grew up in Vermont, the first state I believe to abolish slavery in 1777. Apparently your greatness and contribution to American is a tradition dating to the founding when such interracial love happened and produced a hero of the Revolution who was paid his pension by the government for his fight like all the other black Patriots of Revolution. If can recognize the great parts of our history, then such struggles as yours would be normal. Thanks much for this beautiful story.
