Some corrections here: flat out, Hamer was not some sort woman going around making speeches. She rose up from a slavecropping status to become one of the most fearless Americans pushing for Democracy. She was totally nuts in going straight from the cotton plantation to register to vote, because she knew how people were killed by the rapid pack of fanged white men roaming the streets and hunting human registrants because they looked black when registering. They pumped lead into her little dilapidated shack at night, blasting holes straight through it; though fortunately she wasn’t home. Those ravenous fiendish pack, imagining her bleed out in her sleep before driving away into the dark night back to their cave, howling, must have scared to death when they saw her after, like she had risen from the dead. I imagine they probably sh——ed their pants.
Second, because she faced down villainous repressors who took over the state on a murderous rampage who had swarmed into the capital dripping with blood from a decade of massacring black voters and to be their white carpetbaggers puppet masters, she deserves not some big lily white flowers, but a big bronze statue straight out front of the capital in Jackson, about 25 feet high, to remind the king white men who walk into their autocracy chamber who is really boss: The Democracy Champion (or championess if you would prefer).
Ms. Hamer was almost the worst kind of democracy loving American, only those vile Unionist invaders who had blown down after the war ended to organize those slaves and make them win elections to control the white race and make them and their white women slaves, were worse. They were the lowest schemers seeking to lord over the honor of white men and their women (their own race!) after conquering the new proud country of the Confederate States. It’s bad enough to lose the war, and perhaps they could have honorably found a way to run their fiefdom states, like by only whites to vote, but to then scheme to put their very own slaves in charge over them by rigging the vote. That was five bridges too far and rubbing salt in the still open wounds. Absolute traitors to their own race and tormentors. Ms. Hamer then rose up from her cotton plantation and started her own political party and was honored by a white traitor LBJ from their own party of the South who was president. My god, the horror of that man. Letting a slave rule over them again after a century of violence and bloodshed (that is white men killing freely black Americans through lynching to repress their 14th amendment rights without any federal intervention).
No, I can’t stand the thought of a white lily flowers sprinkled on Fannie Lou’s grave. A 30 foot statue to start, with a go fund me page is a good start, putting her on the hundred dollar bill—and I still want my $20 dollar Tubmans. Those who fight for democracy deserve respect, and those who fight against by taking over the Capitol in Jackson in a vicious white horde deserve only condemnation.
We will gain control the narrative my friend, because of seekers knowledge like you — keep on with truth and justice, and peace to you.
