Rogan’s repeated use the word is not accidental or tolerable. It is ot something he can apologize for, a he was old enough when he used it to know better. But I find his “planet of the apes” reference just as offense, as it creates a visual illustration beyond the repetition of a ‘forbidden’ word. It shows a deliberate attempt to create a racist image that sticks in the mind’s eye and requires a heavier, more conscious effort create, thus more insidiousness.
One trivial comment that occurred to me from the post of one commenters screenshot: the default skin color is causally black, not white. the comment or reveals a sort of mental view that whites are the dominant race and blacks became blacks because of “too much sun”. In reality, man kind descended from blacks in Africa, so it the lack of sun which “paled” their skin. Just a minor observation I found interesting.
