Oh, I can agree with the horrible leader, but I don’t have plans to leave Houston given it is the most diverse city in America, and I’ve met a lot of foreign born and first generation people who are wonderful and make for great discussions. If people abandon the fight for democracy, believing another state has it, then they will greatly deceived. Only two states don’t disenfranchise voters under certain conditions, Vermont and Maine. State legislators in the other 48 make arbitrary laws and conditions to strip voting rights away—or alienate them—from American citizens. The core of democracy is being eaten away at because the myth of the middle class means you ignore the bottom twenty percent who get their rights stripped away, leaving you not to care. You are trained to look up and either like or hate the leaders but this means you don’t look down to see how the rights of the most poor have already and yet are being stripped away. Although I like articles like this, one thing that is a given is that they are meant neither for the rich or the poor, and focus instead on what’s best for me (in the middle class).
