Maybe the language isn’t accurate enough here. Maybe it should read:
“White conservative Democratic politicians in Mississippi legislated laws of segregating blacks from public spaces and removing their political power, signed by each governor of the state, that legislated black Americans into inferior positions. The black Americans could not fight back politically, as the State of Mississippi passed a new state constitution in 1890 that removed over hundred thousand black American Republican voters from the registration roles, taking away their ability to vote and stop these segregationist laws or objecting to them in state legislative sessions.
This group of confederate Democrats insurrected the practices of voting rights under the new state constitution and shot and killed many black Americans who tried to register until 1965. By creating a single party state, the Democrat conservatives overthrew democracy and created a one-party state where they gained complete and unfettered control during that 75 year period. This white rune one-party state reflected the government of Germany from 1933-1945 or Soviet Union from 1920-1991. A white controlled one party state where white men in on political party overthrows the democratic order using violence and election cheating created systems of governance eliminating opposition. In America, this political order Mississippi white men instituted by laws and practices based on those constitutional laws and state permissions, is called white supremacy; in Germany whites called it National Socialism or colloquially fascism; in the Soviet Union white called it Communism or Stalinism in the worst form. But it is all the same political ordering structure of one-party white male rule who eliminated opposition through violence.”

Well, that’s a bit long for a rephrasing, to say the least. But American white academics still wish to maintain different language in describing these system, which fail to recognize the same method of political organization that created these single party ordering systems through violence, legal changes to laws and constitutions, voting law changes, military enforcement over perceived ethnic groups through police action and extrajudicial militia violence. Socialist, Communist, Fascist, White Supremacist to black Americans are actually manifestations of language that related to the same political structures of white male history in those countries who seized control through insurrections to repress minorities by creating a one-party system.

Or you can continue to use their white evolved white language, white are strategies of discussing black American’s issues, which include the continued and obvious omission of the white conservative politicians in Mississippi (or Alabama or South Carolina) who perpetrated the laws in legislatures and signed and enforced by governors of segregation and voting repression that forced black Americans out of public and political life. If we can’t build the language of accuracy that reflects the accountability, then we will continue to merely reflect white derived history instead of writing black American history with the underlying structural truth that black Americans feel happened to them, perpetrated by laws of segregationist repression and disenfranchisement. That’s my two cents, or maybe a full quarter, and advice to a new professor with power to change the language of history.
