Eating Dogs and Cats is a brilliant trope. It puts black racism right onto black people by moving it first onto black immigrants in order to make it seem not black racist trope. It accuses “them” (black Haitians means white people end up just seeing black people) of eating pets, cats and dogs. It brings fear into the hearts, or at least disgust, by making white people in Ohio turned off by the “bestial” habits of these “uncivilized” [immigrant] blacks. It displaces racism by first putting it onto immigration, making for plausible liability if asked if he’s being racist. It also gives us an endpoint to look at white racist tropes from in the last three and half centuries of racist tropes used in the political arena in the South since blacks were first by default enfranchised there. (Yes, I just that, though hold on for a second.)

But I got to give JD credit there. Though certainly not my vote. It takes a strong man, or a slippery malleable personality disorder, to make up a brand new white racist trope against blacks after centuries of them. It’s hard to not get Black Americans outraged by the savage white racism he is promoting. JD now has an out as the average American can defend him and Trump by saying they were just talking about immigration instead of black…
