It’s Fake News. I mean what they were declaring in this declaration and not this article. What these whites were declaring was the comments in the press were fake news and so they threatened this newspapers right to freedom of speech, expression and the press, because they hated the news and opinions. They fundamentally declared they were going to attack and overthrow the basic principles on which democracy is based, and then did so. The horrible part is that one subheadline, The Governor is powerless and the president is Silent. Silent during an insurrection and a threat to massacre, followed by silence after the massacre. The US President and the Governor stood by when the key principle of democracy was threatened to be overthrown and then overthrown. That is ultimate complicity. Failure to protect the basic rights of democracy because they are “powerless” means the president and governor are either weak and timid little white men, or they approve of this insurrection. You can choose both.
This happened over and over and over again. During the Osepoulas massacre, they burned down the newspapers of the opposing party and the black Americans. They organized in Memphis and burned down the aptly named Free Speech paper, run by Ida B. Wells, when they didn’t like her story. They banned the mail in the 1830s because of news abolitionists sent through it. These MAGA conservatives wing of the Democratic Party and now of the Republican Party have bullied and threatened free speech from day one. They are a solid block of whites and I would say that in the North at the beginning, there was a block of “strong” whites who fought for those very principles of equality and justice for all that are embedded in the philosophy of inalienable natural rights that opposed the philosophy of Hobbs’s view point of the social contract, that of alienable rights. They still hate free speech and that’s why Trump calls it fake news. He is a part of this “great” MAGA conservative tradition. It is no accident The Birth of a Nation, shown as the White House, replicated the attack described in this article, and that Democratic MAGA conservative Party Wilson declared the “America First” platform started there, used later one and now used by Trump. The current prosecution of him for insurrection of this whole tradition. Biden is still silent on this insurrection and still can’t stand up to these bullies, which their tradition.
