It would be great if you read the voter suppression laws in states like Florida and Georgia and South Carolina enacted in 1876. They were very similar to today's. They were colorless as well, did not mention race, but were effective in repressing 60 percent of the voters in South Carolina, who happened to be black. If you were to actually read them, you will find direct similarities. Historically we call them Jim Crow laws, but they are just voters registration laws on the books. They became the model for the next hundred plus years until today. They were very effective then in pushing blacks out from the polls just like they were in Florida in 2000 when the law was changed at the last minute and disenfranchsied hundreds of thousands of blacks who the right to vote only months before. That law also did not mention race, but it was clear what would happened and did.
