I'm still trying to formulate the disconnect between intelligent Brits and Europeans (and Northern Yankees) and Trump followers, who are avid and intense. Part of the difficulty I think is there is a paradox at the heart of it: The Northerners aren't as self-empowered and driven to vote in a democracy. If there were 74 million Trump voters last time there will be 74 or more million this year. They are not, despite appearances, "blindly" following. They are self motivated to turn out. The Democrats may not turn out because they don't "like" Joe Biden. This isn't a beauty contest, it's ideological warfare, as the Republicans see it. I may hate their ideology, but you have to "fight" for what you believe in, not who you believe in. The conservative fight everyday when they wake, fiercely, even though they are fighting for whyte supremacy and not against it. The liberals don't fight but meekly complain, laugh at Trump (for the record I like a good laugh), read, think, overanalyze (guilty!), but don't fight. It has to be fixed. Trump is not the disease but the latest symptom of it. There were many, many Trumps in the 1800s and 1900s. History is amnesia, told by the victors to make you forget the past.
