I’m not a black woman, but reading about this 400 years in the last few years of how they have been used so violently by slave owners and sharecroppers, placed in breeding camps during slavery, repeatedly violated afterwards as well by slave owners, forced to raise children at the lowest rungs on the economic ladder because jobs and support for their education and welfare were deprived, I would have to say that the type of freedom she is celebrating may look horrible and disagreeable to men, but it is her right. Women’s freedom, especially black women’s, needs to applauded and celebrated. I love babies and thought of their death is sad indeed, but that sadness is eclipsed by centuries of pure disrespect and brutality against them. I say let her enjoy her freedom and pursuit of her career.
