If We Take Palestinians Seriously for a Second
New Reporting Divulges April West Bank IDF Planned Executions of Refugees
Just when you think an ongoing genocide where children are being starved to death is bad enough, along comes some West Bankers in another concentration camp-like setting. I mean, who knew? Except, of course, for the Palestinians, who have been living in these conditions for decades. And therein lies the central problem with American news exposed: no balance. When it comes to Israel, I felt for a second that all TV outlets are Fox News.
The Nur Shams “area” is described in the news pieces as a “refugee camp,” a phrase that struck me as odd. That is a new description I’ve not heard about living conditions in the West Bank, which reveals factual truth Americans don’t normally acquire from the news: this is a “camp” in the West Bank, a place that we’ve been told is where Palestinians were “self-governing” in some way. But, you can’t be a refugee in your own homeland. That’s when I realize the government and the news have continually given us in America language that misguides and does not depict the real political situation, at least from a Palestinian perspective.
Yet here we are with Palestinians described by the Washington Post, accurately if we believe the Post, living as “refugees” in “camp” in their homeland. For the record, this…
