If the federal American government with its deep instinct to repress black Americans above all minorites, was to give a holiday celebrating black Americans, for any reason, I say we take it. We now have two holidays (MLKDay). That's two more then we had the first 200 plus years. Let those Americans celebrate who recongize the core meaning of independence, the best sign of victory is an open display of a life of enjoying freedom, even one born of repression. Black Americans and others who choose to join them can show to the cameras that happiness is greater than guns and violence, the 'other side' of extremists, restrained by their own internal frustration, grumbling in anger, unable to breath the sweet air of life, unable to embrace the real joyous brotherhood that humanity has to offer, and instead plotting for nothing but revenge and hatred. They are the true enslaved.

We don't have the time left in our lives to have them get us down. Rising up in joy shows them the true meaning of the day, an inner joy they can never defeat, now open in the streets.
