I would have to agree with him. Every election is the same threat: if blacks don’t continue to vote for the democrat then Republicans will hurt them. That’s always been the case anyway: both Republicans hurting them and infilled promises and attention to the active political opposition against blacks since 1776. The country was founded with color blind principles: race, gender, ethnicity, religion were not the values in the Constitution and Declaration of Independence. It actually was with “liberty and justice for all.” The problem since then however is that the vast majority of whites (probably 99% or more) didn’t understand that radical concept then and have refused to understand it since. The oppression and opposition to enacting the true secular humanist rights of all has always been neglected by a majority. If an extreme minority would not have written down those key secular humanist values foundational to a democracy and instead would have gone with supporting one side or the other, we wouldn’t have a democracy. Standing up for these rights have never popular, and the threat of voting one way just to “go along to get along” has always worked in keeping blacks (and other minorities, including women) “in line.” Voting under threat of losing is not voting for your beliefs. It’s voting against them. The republicans have always been repressive, we can count on that. They never admit defeat, from the Lost Cause to Trump. Why should he?
