I was speaking of middle schools and high schools, sorry for that confusion. I too in college was on financial aid in the northeast, and indeed the university was more diverse. As for the private high schools or "prep schools" in my area I knew, they were back a few decades ago expensive and all white. That may have changed after the 2000s.
