I was deeply touched by the pictures and poem. Both were very powerful. I think something has changed, even if just bit, and that is a community took action to make this zone of freedom and hope. We need these zones in every cities though. The memorials we have to war heroes, especially ones from the confederate slave country long defeated by living still, are ones of glorious oppressors, or those working against democracy. This community wide memorial was made from the deep care of those concerned with how others are treated, how they are treated, and speak to democracy in a way more than just a single face but of the thousands of hands who made this without government permission and government funding. It is a self community made democracy at deep level of construction, where authority can only let it stand now it is constructed. Those working for it are too few. But those are the only ones that need to stand.
Thanks much again prof.
