I think politics is different from music in reality, though I completely agree about what they tell us. Today I had a pop up notification for a podcast that said “Voters are concerned with the economy as their number one issue.” I was like, No, it’s not. I’m personally not that concerned. They were imposing their gatekeeping addiction over me, that is true. But as far as anyone in the Capitol listening to your complaints and comments outside your representative, well, you can forget that. You might as well send them into a black hole. There still is a need for gatekeepers in many areas of life, or rather moderators. Standards made by central organizations or associations impose minimum quality and integrity on products sold to consumers. The UL standard keeps many sub-standard products out of America to begin. We don’t see all the real. Chinese made products in the US that flood other parts of the world because of standards and gatekeepers. But for opinion pieces and music, I think the system is breaking down. But you have to do more work participating. Netflix has had a hundred plus categories behind the scenes, make their recommendation algorithm more accurate, which is how they won the market years ago. Only when you create your own account and start saving movies you like to your cue to recommendations get made that are more accurate to your tastes. You can look up Netflixes labelling to see the “micro-categories.” That might help.
