I should note that not all white people are alike either. I am certainly on the other side of the political and belief system as Ben Carson and Tim Scott. And it makes a difference. I don’t know or trust why they congregate with a group of racists. The first Republican convention I saw as a kid was Ronald Reagans. I didn’t part of it with dad because we were fans, but because my dad hated Reagan, the union destroyer. What I saw when I look at it for a bit was a white sea of faces. Then every four years I saw the same group, the same sea. I deeply distrusted them. Something was wrong here. It still is. Look out at the GOP convention and see the same today. The Democrats have a great diversity of people — including white. I’m not trying to be political, but trying to note there are those that are white who don’t trust groups of certain whites — republicans, baptists, evangelicals, gun owners. I certainly wish the author the best is dismantling racism and wish her the best courage.
