I saw a couple great interviews with Ms. Giddens. Not only is she a super talented musician and singer, but a musical historian and a couple other talents. She went over part of the history of banjo described here and coming from Black American originally, and then appropriated by whites. So the root sounds of country music came from blacks I learned, and now they act like it’s all theirs. You might: Is there anything the Anglos didn’t appropriate? Yes, the art of appropriation.
